This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) describes how Favor International, Inc. (“Favor,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) gathers, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of our websites (including favorintl.org and its subdomains) and services (collectively, the “Services”).
This notice is intended to help you understand our online information security practices. As a donor or supporter submitting personally identifying information (“Information”) to us or any of our staff, you consent to the terms of this policy and to our processing and use of Information for the purposes stated below. If you have any questions, please contact us at privacy@favorintl.org. This Privacy Policy may be modified from time to time.
1. Donor privacy protections
Favor makes every effort to protect donor and donation data, both online and offline. When you make a financial or in-kind donation, you provide your name and contact information. Financial donors provide standard payment information including, in many circumstances, credit card data. When you access our website to make a donation, your access is protected by SSL encryption so that data you enter into contact or donation forms cannot be accessed by third parties. If you establish an account on our website, we do not know or store your password.
Many donors use credit cards for donations. We protect the security of credit card transactions using measures such as SSL encryption, access controls, network firewalls, and physical security. When we work with other companies to process credit card transactions, those companies also use encryption and other appropriate security measures. We will not sell, share, or trade our donors’ personally identifiable information with any other entity, except as described in this policy for limited and defined purposes. We will not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.
Favor has vendors that assist with processing and managing donations and donor data. We give these vendors access to donor data only for the purpose of fulfilling their services to us. Our vendors are bound by strict confidentiality rules and are permitted to use donor data only to support Favor’s operations. Favor agrees to and abides by the Donor Bill of Rights, and Favor is held accountable by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) for the statements we make concerning the use, function, and impact of your donations.
2. Information we collect
Information includes data that identifies you personally, such as your name, mailing address, telephone number, mobile phone number, and email address. We collect and store the personally identifiable information that you provide when you contact us, register for an event, subscribe to updates, or make a contribution, whether on our website, at a special event, over the phone, or by mail.
Like most websites, we may gather certain information automatically and store it in log files, including internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider, referring and exit pages, operating system, date and time stamp, and clickstream data. To collect this information, a cookie may be set on your device when you visit our Services. We use this data to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Services, to develop new features, and to provide donor and customer support.
3. Mobile information and text messages (SMS)
If you provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive text messages from Favor International, we collect and store your mobile number and a record of your consent, along with your message and delivery history, so that we can send the messages you requested and honor your opt-out requests. Text messaging consent is collected separately from email consent and is never assumed from any other interaction. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any donation or purchase.
We do not sell or share your mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Information sharing with the subcontractors and service providers that help us operate the messaging program (for example, our messaging platform and message-delivery provider) is permitted solely to deliver the messages you requested. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may not use the information for their own marketing.
You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP or contact us at info@favorintl.org or 941-444-9940. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Full program details are in our Text Message Program terms and our Terms of Use.
4. How we use information and the choices you have
We use the information we collect to communicate with you, including for donor and customer service, to provide updates and other information relating to your relationship with Favor, and for marketing and promotional purposes where you have consented; to process your transactions; to find and prevent fraud; and for compliance purposes as may be required by applicable laws and regulations.
You may unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time by following the instructions at the end of the email, and from text messages by replying STOP. Even if you unsubscribe, we may still contact you for informational, transactional, account-related, or similar purposes. Many browsers have an option for disabling cookies, which may prevent your browser from accepting new cookies.
5. How information may be shared
We do not sell, rent, or trade our donor, volunteer, subscriber, or newsletter contact information to outside parties. Except as described in this Privacy Policy or at the time we request the information, we do not otherwise disclose your personal information to any third parties. As stated above, text message opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third parties.
To the extent required to provide our Services, we may share your Information as follows:
Donors giving through PayPal Giving Fund
We have partnered with PayPal Giving Fund, an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) public charity. When donating through PayPal Giving Fund on our site, PayPal Giving Fund receives the donor’s name and information for all donations. Favor offers donors the option not to share their name and information with the recipient organization. Sensitive payment data is securely transmitted directly to PayPal Giving Fund without passing through our servers.
Service providers
We hire third-party service providers to help provide or improve the Services we offer (for example, payment processing, email delivery, and text-message delivery). When it is necessary for these providers to access Information we collect, we take reasonable steps to ensure they do not use or disclose it except to fulfill their service obligations to us.
Legal and business transfers
We may be legally obligated to disclose Information to a government agency or third party under certain circumstances. In the unlikely event that Favor undergoes a sale or transfer of all or substantially all of its assets, the acquiring entity will be subject to this Privacy Policy in its use of your personally identifiable Information.
6. Children’s privacy
Favor does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you learn that a child has provided us with personal information in violation of this Privacy Policy, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above will depend on the personal information concerned and the specific context in which we collect it. We normally collect personal information only where we need it to receive your donation, where the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your rights, or where we have your consent to do so.
8. Security and retention
Favor is committed to protecting your information. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the Information we collect online, and we retain personal information where we have an ongoing legitimate need to do so. Please bear in mind that no method of transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
9. Your data protection rights
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, you may access, correct, update, or request deletion of your personal information; object to or restrict its processing; request portability; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@favorintl.org. You also have the right to opt out of marketing communications at any time.
10. Changes to this policy
You should visit this page periodically to review any changes to the Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Favor website following notice of any changes indicates your acknowledgment of such changes and your agreement to be bound by them.
